On 11 October 2019, World Vision held the second in a series of church engagement forums on The Connected Generation, a pioneering global study, co-commissioned with Barna Group, on how the outlook, experiences, and values of millennials and the leading edge of Generation Z should inform the Church’s efforts to make in-roads with, disciple, and activate an emerging generation living in a digital, sceptical and experiential age. Mr. Daniel Copeland, a Research Associate from Barna Group, was invited to share the results from Singapore.

Enhancing Life Skills and Employability of Youths in Son Tra, Vietnam
A team of two lecturers and 24 students studying different courses at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) took part in a Youth Expedition Project (YEP) in Da Nang, Vietnam on 8-20 September 2019. This YEP was organised by NP’s Office of Service Learning (OSL) in conjunction with World Vision, and was the second in a series of Service-Learning trips that introduced students at NP to World Vision’s child-centred approach to sustainable development. The team shares some reflections and key takeaways from their experience.

Bringing Hope to Children Through Heartstrings in Taikkyi
5 passionate students from National Junior College, Joyce Goh, Ker Jun Sheng, Vernice Teo, Allysa Tan and Xavier Cheah, started "Heartstrings in Taikkyi" - a campaign to raise awareness and funds for the needs of the community in Taikkyi, Myanmar. The team mounted a school-wide exhibition from 19 - 20 August 2019 to sensitise their peers to the educational and child protection needs in Taikkyi, and invited them to write letters of encouragement to the children and youth living there as a show of support.

A Little Hope in Nepal
We were up in the mountains of Nepal, 1,200 meters above sea level, literally in the middle of nowhere. This boy was still able to make a digger out of scavenged materials. Even adding a system made out of strings to control it. He said his dream was to become an engineer.

Famine Camp 2016: Taking on the World
From 10-11 June 2016, I attended World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine Camp, which was held at Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) and different activity sites around Singapore. This year, the theme was Taking on the World and we took on the role of eco-exiles. We had to experience poverty worsened by climate change and were driven from our homelands as a result.
