Provide Life-Saving Support to Children Facing Crises and Disasters
Global Emergency Response
Children's lives can change in an instant in the wake of conflict and disasters. Today humanitarian emergencies are more frequent and severe, fuelled by conflict and climate change.
In moments like these, how quickly help arrives can mean everything. With your support, we can move fast to provide life-saving aid. Our crisis and disaster response not only provides relief and saves lives of children. We nourish, comfort and protect children who’ve experienced violence, displacement, earthquakes, typhoons and floods. We continue to walk beside them as their communities recover and rebuild.

Frequently Asked Questions
World Vision’s presence in nearly 100 countries means we can act quickly. We work day-to-day with the vulnerable communities across six continents. This includes building resilience for when the worst happens. We prepare for everything. This includes
- Natural disasters like tsunamis
- Famines driven by climate change
- Or humanitarian crises brought about by conflict.
Our response efforts are helped by raising funds ahead of time, working with experts and local partners and positioning relief supplies around the world.
Since 1966, World Vision has responded to some of the world’s worst natural disasters and emergencies to save and rebuild lives.
When disaster strikes, World Vision first responds with life-saving emergency aid. Then we stay for the long term to help families recover. Within the first couple of hours after a disaster, World Vision staff members closest to the disaster respond with reports on what’s needed. If there are no security or safety concerns our staff are on the ground within 24 to 72 hours of the disaster. We immediately make assessments and can begin to provide relief. For the first week, we continue to distribute emergency aid and relief to those affected by the disaster.
Over the following month, we assist families with temporary shelter, water, sanitation, child protection activities, healthcare and economic opportunities. We work with local people, partners and governments.
We stand with communities right from disaster through to recovery and building back.
Depending on the type of emergency, your support will make different programs and responses possible. Your donations can support:
- Meeting the most urgent needs in fast-moving disasters like earthquakes by helping us set up the initial response
- Improving community resilience for longer term disasters like famine
- Providing food, water and shelter to families in times of unexpected crisis
- And supporting child protection and safe spaces for children to learn and play.
An estimated 1 in 11 children around the world needs humanitarian support due to conflict, hunger, and climate disasters.
