Lindula is located in the Nuwara Eliya district in the central province. Majority of the people work as pickers and labourers in the tea estates that provide work for only 10 to 15 days a month. 45% of the population under 12 are illiterate, due to long travel distances to school and poor transport facilities. Children who drop out of school end up as unskilled labourers. Malnutrition among children remains widespread due to lack of access to health services, nutritious food and misguided traditional eating practices.

Through Child Sponsorship, you can help children in Lindula stay in school, grow up healthy, and build a brighter future.

“What amazed me is the constant communal effort between the villagers, World Vision and the local authorities to help the vulnerable move out of their current plight by overcoming challenges together. In efforts to address the health and nutrition challenge for example, World Vision will teach mothers how to cook healthy food for their children without affecting the family’s income.”

"In the past, my father was the only breadwinner in the family, and we struggled economically as he was not able to provide for my educational needs. World Vision supported us through climate-smart agriculture activity by providing water motor and pipes. Now, we have a steady income through vegetable cultivation, and we are able to adapt to different climatic changes. My father is now also able to fulfil my needs.”
