"...if I can live my life comfortably with the money that I have, why not challenge myself to also put aside a sum of money every month to give to these children," shared Shawn.

"Sponsoring a child is something that is close to the heart of God – even though we may be miles apart from this child, we can share life with someone who is just so far away," said Rev. Jasper Ngoh, Associate Pastor at TACMC.

“I was looking for something meaningful to do or to contribute to, I guess something bigger than myself,” Beverly explained.

I witness the special moment of a child toddling towards the photos hung on pegs in the middle of the room. The room is quiet as he heads in a specific direction and stops in front of a picture. He turns back to his grandmother, with his thumb in his mouth, for assistance.

Many of these kids aren’t used to choosing, so picking their sponsor is a huge leap forward for them. Research shows that when kids in poverty have a voice in decision-making, they take action for lasting change.  

Having shared in the experience of Chosen – not once but twice, Lilian Chung, World Vision Singapore’s National Director and child sponsor share her experience and journey as a #Chosen sponsor. 

“Right after the event, he ran home and showed me his sponsor’s photo and talked so much about him. He said that he will keep the photo of his sponsor safely and if his sponsor visited him, he will show them the photo,” continued Hanh. 

“It is something that is very empowering and meaningful and I feel honoured to be a part of this," shared Jayley Woo. The local celebrity was #Chosen by a child in Bangladesh as part of World Vision's latest child sponsorship initiative. This is her story! 

“I believe that I should contribute meaningfully to those in need, instead of spending money on what I want. I also feel that Chosen is very unique in a sense that it gives those children hope! The power to make a decision that can impact their lives.”
